Techniques Group Adopts Wizards Hosted 3CX

Established for well over 30 years. Chertsey based Techniques Group are a highly innovative interior and graphic display business delivering creative signage to retailers and exhibition companies. Employing an in-house team of specialist designers, Techniques Group work involves large scale printing and custom cutting machines all of which demand continuous IT support. Large graphic files are their stock in trade meaning Techniques Group are heavily reliant on their Internet connection.

Having moved into a new larger building in 2016, Techniques Group reused a pre-existing ISDN based phone system locked into an ongoing BT contract. Wizards were the incumbent supplier of Internet connections and a long-standing advisor on IT and telephony matters; so inevitably the subject of costs and the phone system were broached. Even a cursory glance at existing phone arrangements meant Wizards could deliver a more reliable system with vastly more features at a significantly lower cost using Wizards hosted 3CX solution.

3CX are a major European soft PBX vendor whose clients include many high-profile names including Pepsi, Hugo Boss, American Express and Carlsberg. Wizards specialise in delivering solutions based around 3CX and in this case found the most efficient and cost-effective approach to run the soft PBX on the Google Compute Engine delivering availability, scalability and bandwidth at low cost. Following the guidelines issued by Ofcom, Wizards formally migrated Techniques Group numbers on to the new hosted 3CX platform enabling an almost uninterrupted phone service keeping the business trading seamlessly during the transition.

Specifying an additional VDSL service delivering VoIP traffic exclusively means voice services are unaffected by Internet usage plus browsing and email continue unhindered whilst keeping costs significantly below the BT ISDN service. Techniques Group now have 13 extensions spread throughout the building including 2 DECT phones allowing printer operators access to a portable phone system.

The capture of the numbers and migration to the cloud service was all but seamless with very little interruption to daily business.
